Abstract
Despite the fact that it is a fun environment to start with, today research shows that films can be used as a teaching tool. Films with various genres are among the most up to date resources available in social studies classes. In this context, teachers can use films to motivate students in teaching specific subjects. In this research, a measurement tool was developed that can be used in determining the perceptions of about the use of films in social studies teaching. The draft scale form consisting of a total of 70 items has been reviewed and corrected by language experts in order to correct sentence errors and expression errors. The scope and the validity of the structure are examined in the content of the validity study of the measuring tool. In the scope of coverage, opinions of field experts were obtained in determining whether the numbers and qualifications of the items on the scale were sufficient. The necessary arrangements were made in line with the opinions and recommendations of field experts and the 70 items on the scale were reduced to 38 items. 38 items prepared for the scale were applied to 168 social studies teachers. Analyzes were made on 160 scales that were completely filled out of the scales. Prior to the statistical analysis, the reliability of the test items was examined using the t-test and item total correlations for the significance of the differences between the item mean scores of the lower 27% and upper 27% groups, which were formed by Kaiser-Mayer-Olkin KMO and Barlett Tests . As a result of the factor analysis, the variance ratios and the slope accumulation graphs are examined and it is seen that the scale factor is the three factor. Confirmatory factor analysis was then carried out and it was concluded that the models of the scales were appropriate according to the confirmatory factor analysis results. Internal consistency coefficient Cronbach Alpha of the scale was calculated as .85. As a result of the research, it is determined that this scale, which is called " The Perception Scale for the Use of Films in the Teaching of Social Studies ", is a valid and reliable tool
